Got Questions?
I haven’t been good enough to know God. What hope do I have?
God is good! He has provided the way for you to connect with Him. It is a gift from Him, not based on your works. Salvation—the way into a relationship with God—is by grace, through faith alone, and not by works.
The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8–9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
I’m not a bad person, so shouldn’t God accept me as I am?
The Bible tells us in Romans 3:10, “There is none righteous, no, not one.” And Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
We have all sinned in the eyes of God, and each of us stands guilty before Him. Consider how ridiculous it would be to stand before a perfectly holy God and say “I’ve been good enough.”
Are there consequences for my sin?
Romans 6:23 tells us that “the wages of sin is death.” That speaks of spiritual death—eternal separation from God—being the price we must pay for sin.
What is sin? Sin is simply disobedience to the will of God. And since all have sinned, all are subject to the penalty of sin: separation from God for all eternity.
How do I start a relationship with God through Jesus?
Romans 10:9–10 says, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
A simple sincere prayer is the way to initiate your connection with God. Just tie your heart around these words and pray:
“Dear God, I humble myself before You, and I confess my need. I cannot save myself. I look to You and to You alone. I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins and was raised from the dead on the third day. I look to Him to be my Savior. Jesus, come into my life. I confess You as my Lord. From this moment forward, all I am and all I have I place in Your hands, Jesus. Amen.”
I prayed the prayer, what's next?
Here are four things you can do that will help you get established in your faith.
- Read your Bible every day. That’s food for your spirit. Psalm 119:11 says, “Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” It is vital you spend time in God’s Word.
- Pray every day. Spend time talking to God and then listening in your heart for His answers. As 1 Thessalonians 5:17 admonishes us, “Pray without ceasing.” This is a vital part of your growth and protection as a believer.
- Have fellowship with other believers. Don’t get isolated from the church. Scripture tells us to “not forsake the assembling of yourselves together, as is the manner of some” (Hebrews 10:25). In fact, it’s important to get integrated into a smaller circle of fellowship. You need to get connected relationally. There is real safety in that.
- And finally, tell someone else about Jesus. Share your experience with Him with others.
If you do these four things, you will flourish in your walk with God!
