When hard times hit and trials come our way, we must remember that God is not limited, and we can commit our lives and our situations to Him as our faithful Creator.

Take comfort in these verses from Colossians 1:15–17…

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. (NLT, emphasis added)

Do you remember those little hand exercise spring grips that were popular several years ago? I used to have one of those. Sometimes I would squeeze it together and put a coin between the grips to see how long I could hold it without dropping the coin.

After a little while, my arms would start to shake. I would grit my teeth and try to hold on as hard as I could, but then that coin would inevitably slip out and fall to the floor.

I have got good news for you: Jesus never gets shaky holding the universe together. If He can hold the universe together, don’t you think He can keep you from falling apart? Don’t you think He can meet your needs, help your marriage, and bring you through to victory out of your present circumstance? Don’t you think He can heal your body?

He’s holding the universe together with a word of His power—and He can do the same for you as well.

Maybe you are in the furnace of affliction right now, or it seems like the floodwaters of adversity are closing in on you from every side. It may have to do with your marriage, your children, a financial situation, a physical malady, or something else.

If so, I have got a word for you: Remember your Creator. Commit your situation to Him knowing He is faithful to hold all things together.

Read these verses from Isaiah 43:1–2…

But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.”

The truth is you are not strong enough or wise enough to deal with all of the difficulties and the situations that will arise in your life. You are limited, but our God is unlimited.

What might He do if you truly trusted Him for great things? What might happen in you and through you, in your family, in your neighborhood, in our nation, if you truly put your trust in Him as your faithful Creator?

My friend, you are in the good hands of the One who will never let you go—and that is a promise you can hold on to (John 10:28–30)!
