Perhaps you have read my testimony of how God rescued me from a life that was falling deeper and deeper into the abyss of drug and alcohol abuse. A life I’m sure many would say was void of hope.

In many ways my story is a testimony that no matter how low you may get, His arm is always long enough to reach you where you are.

I’ve been thinking about that lately as I look around at those who are struggling through difficult and troubled times. I’m struck by the fact that so many people are in desperate need of hope.

When I think of how God’s mercy reached me in my desperate circumstances, I am confident that there is hope for you, no matter what you may be facing.

As I look back over the many ridiculous and dangerous situations I got myself into due to my previous lifestyle, all I can say is that if not for God’s grace and mercy, I wouldn’t still be alive.

He was helping me when I didn’t even know Him, and He continues to shower His abundant mercy and grace upon me today.

Perhaps you find it difficult to relate to a story like mine. Maybe you have never abused drugs or alcohol. But I’m sure you have known your own brand of trouble.

Perhaps some of your past or present difficulties are due to foolishness on your part. Perhaps your problems have arisen from circumstances beyond your control.

Either way, there is HOPE! God will not abandon you.

Whether your battles are physical, emotional, financial, or spiritual, God can help you.

Consider these verses:

Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy. (Psalm 33:18)

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior. (Psalm 42:5 NIV)

The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy. (Psalm 147:11)

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)

Friend, no matter what—there is always hope!

Keep your eyes on the Lord and upon His promise, even as it says in Psalm 119:114, “You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.

Keep your head up, your hands up, and your hopes up. God is for you!
