I’ll never forget the night I gave my heart to Christ in that little mission in Medford, Oregon.
In that moment, I was so overwhelmed that I began to sob uncontrollably. Why? Because an unmistakable, supernatural peace flooded my heart and mind.
Sure, I still had questions about things, but I knew beyond a doubt that I had been rescued by God. As God’s Spirit took up residence in my heart, He brought me a peace this world will never understand.
This peace is something Jesus promised in His final evening with His disciples, just before His crucifixion. In John 14:26-27, He says:
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
One of the advantages that the Holy Spirit brings into our lives is a supernatural peace that defies human understanding. It’s a peace that comes with salvation and is maintained through fellowship with the Holy Spirit, as we spend time in the Word and release our situations into God’s hands through prayer.
Today, perhaps you find yourself tormented and distressed over the hardships of life. You find yourself worrying, and your worry is robbing you of the quality of life God has designed for you.
I’m telling you, if you will commit those things to God, He will begin to intervene. Your situation may still look the same on the outside, but you can have assurance in your heart of hearts that God is involved and working on your behalf.
